DVD


1. The DVD Driver refuses to install.
2. The DVD drive is not detected.
3. The DVD motorized tray won’t open or close
4. There is no audio when playing audio CD.
5. Video-quality appears poor MPEG-2 compression is well-respected for its ability to reproduce high-quality images.
6. The display turns magenta (red) when attempting to adjust the DVD video overlay feature

1. The DVD Driver refuses to install
a. This is almost always because win-95 is having a problem with one or more .INF files on your driver installation disk.
b. Re-install the DVD drivers by entering into control panel, system icon, and then select DVD driver under the device manager, then click remove.
c. Exit the device manager and reinstall the drivers again

2. The DVD drive is not detected.
a. Check the power connector attached to the drive & be sure that the drive isn’t being powered from a Y splitter power cable.
b. Check the signal cable of both SCSI and EIDE attached securely to the drive.
c. Be sure that the drive is jumpered properly for its SCSI ID or EIDE “Master “&”Slave” relationship.
d. Finally be sure that DVD drivers are installed and running

3. The DVD motorized tray won’t open or close
a. Some DVD applications will “lock” the disc tray closed while playing DVD-Video disk.
b. Try closing all the application. Even if the tray won’t open try restarting PC.This will clear any “software lock”.
c. If the problem exist, the drive itself might be defective.

4. There is no audio when playing audio CD.
a. This problem arises during installation of new DVD-Rom drive.chances are that you did not connect CD-audio cable between the DVD-Rom drive & sound board.If so cable might be defective.
b. If DVD-Rom drive is connected to sound board , be sure that the “CD-audio” input in your sound board’s mixer applet is turned up to a reasonable level.

5. Video-quality appears poor MPEG-2 compression is well-respected for its ability to reproduce high-quality images.
a. The problem with “poor”age quality is almost because of your video configuration your colour depth or resolution is too low.
b. DVD-Video playback is best at resolution of 800’600 or higher and colour depths of 16 bits or higher of 24 bits.
c. In most cases, 256 colors will result in “dithered” image.

6. The display turns magenta (red) when attempting to adjust the DVD video overlay feature
a. When adjusting the video overlay, you might have some trouble finding the video window. It often helps to change your background to red so you can see where is the video window is.
b. To do this, right click on background and select properties.
c. Select “none” as both pattern and wallpaper.
d. Click on OK to finish changing background colour to magenta red.
